Still Life Workshop with Kathy Tate

Kathy Tate will demonstrate copper, brass, and glass in still life set-ups in this 2-day workshop at the Bosque Arts Center. She believes painting from life is essential to becoming more than just a “painter.” You should expect to see a significant improvement in your work!

Kathy Tate will demonstrate copper, brass, and glass in still life set-ups, then each person will be painting from the setup and one similar to the demo pieces.
In this two-day workshop you will learn to do the following:
• Paint what you see
• Pull accurate values
• Work with the ”centrality of focus”
• Make metal shine
• Make correct use of light and shadows
• Master edges
• Manipulate paint
Through lecture and demonstrations, the class will explore the value of squinting and learn the importance of design, value control, color control, edges, and paint manipulation.
