Musical!! Derby Girls Opening Dinner Show

At 50, Milli Devereaux has decided to try her hand at writing a travel blog. She convinces her friends to attend the Kentucky Derby with her and while there, she intends to kill two birds with one stone and write not only about the Derby but also about “Glamping.” Upon arrival her friends Twyla Fay, Vivian, Georgia, Wynona, and Milli’s daughter, Jessie Lee, realize they will not be staying in a hotel, but their home for the next three nights will be stylized tents reminiscent of an Arabian Bazaar. What could go wrong? Hilarity ensues as things turn zany at the ball as well as the Kentucky Derby! Join in the fun along with the Derby Girls in this heart-healthy musical!

Jimmy Fortune at the Texas Troubadour

11th Annual

Texas Troubadour Songwriter Classic

Jimmy Fortune, who made his first mark on country music by performing and writing for the Statler Brothers, will headline and judge the 2024 Texas Troubadour.

Fortune joined the group as tenor in the early 80's, replacing Lew DeWitt, who had to retire for health issues.  He wrote the Statlers' number one hits "Elizabeth," "Too Much on My Heart," and "My Only Love."

After selecting his pick for the Troubadour title from the five finalists, Fortune will take the stage to perform a concert with his band to close out the evening.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Performances begin at 6 p.m.

Books on the Bosque Literary Festival

November 9 brings this year’s Books on the Bosque conference with a variety of speakers led by keynote Virginia Miller Reeves, author of Once in a Blue Moon.

Two writing workshop sessions by Mark A. Daniel and Tony Burnett will follow the keynote. 

Continental breakfast and lunch are included in the $30 admission fee.

Awards for the Books on the Bosque Writing Contest will be presented at 2:30. The ceremony and reception is free.

McLennan Community Orchestra

The Bosque Civic Music Association presents the McLennan Community Orchestra for a special concert in Frazier Performance Hall on Saturday, November 9, at 7:30 p.m. 

The evening's music theme will be nature, according to Peter Olson, orchestra director.  Tickets are $15 and students are admitted free, but reservations are required by calling 254-675-3724. 

A wine and cheese reception will be held at 6:30 p.m., prior to the concert. 

Tickets will go on sale 10/14/2024.
