Paul Puckett

Growing up in East Texas, Paul fished with his grandfathers and father every time he had a chance. He loved to fish and draw from an early age. After receiving a degree in advertising design from the University of North Texas, Paul worked in a series of fly shops in Dallas, Jackson Hole, and Atlanta. His love of low-land fly fishing eventually carried him to Charleston, South Carolina.
When he moved to the southeast in 2004, he decided to give his artwork a good 10-year run, and he has never looked back. Paul is now a professional artist who creates custom fish portraits, wildlife and sporting art working from watercolor and oil in a loose style. His "Catch and Release Paintings" have given him the ability to call himself an artist and do his own artistic creations. He captures the moment by taking a picture, adding the fly it was caught with, and the location in script. He started adding hands in pencil about 10 years ago which was well received.
Aside from painting, Paul also works in illustration and graphic design. “I love the freedom of illustration where I can use my drawing background to take everyday fishing scenarios and add a little humor to the situation, cartoons if you will.”
His art has appeared in numerous angling magazines, in print and online, and in exhibitions and shows.
