Fletcher Pastel Workshop

The BAC Art Club is hosting a one-day pastel workshop by award-winning artist Julia Fletcher on Friday, January 19.  Ms. Fletcher graduated from the University of Texas-Austin in 1973 with a degree in Fine Arts-Studio, but the majority of her education was afterwards.  She says, “I am a landscape painter who loves plein air. I can paint a scene at 8 a.m. and throughout the day that scene is changing as the sun sweeps from east to west.”

Ms. Fletcher loves the beauty, portability and versatility of pastel, which can act as both drawing and painting.  Fletcher hopes to provide workshop participants, whether beginning or advanced, a deepening experience with this medium. The workshop will cover materials, techniques, landscape composition, and a demonstration by the artist.  Participants will paint either an image she provides or one they bring.  A supply list is available upon registration, and pastel paper will be provided by the artist.
