Texas Troubadour Winners 2023

POSTED: Monday, November 27, 2023

Country legend Moe Bandy awarded young Zac Clifton the $1,500 Texas Troubadour Award at the 10th Annual Texas Troubadour Songwriter Classic on November 11.  The audience named Clifton its People’s Choice winner as well.

Curtis Allen won the $1,000 Song of the Year Award posthumously with the song “Let Me Be Your Last,” entered on his behalf by his widow, Glenda. Allen’s family was on hand to accept the award.

After the Troubadour segment of the evening, Bandy performed a fabulous show backed by Janie Fricke’s band, who stepped in when Bandy’s group was unable to travel to Clifton.  Recently inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, Bandy was also honored with the 2023 Texas Country Music Awards first-ever Moe Bandy Icon Award Nov. 12 at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth. The BAC was grateful to have this country music legend judging and headlining our 10th anniversary Songwriter Classic. Thank you, Mr. Bandy, for being so entertaining in your show and encouraging to our finalists!

Our thanks also go to our generous award underwriters Roland & Joyce Jones (Troubadour), an anonymous friend of the BAC (Song of the Year), and Phyllis Gamble & Mechelle Slaughter (People’s Choice), as well as our table sponsors who make our concerts possible. Thank you to our other Troubadour finalists—Chip Boyd, Libby Mosley, Kris Tiscareno, Phillip Wildman, and Kassie Wilson—and songwriter entrants, as well as our wonderful volunteers and terrific audience members.
