Book Club August

Ready for some summer reading? Our August theme is “Reader’s Choice” — actually “Punky’s Choice” in this case — and she has chosen The Whistler by John Grisham for our enjoyment.

Grisham is, of course, a best-selling author known for his authentic detail and page-turning plot development. The plot of this book, based in Florida, centers upon the discovery of corrupt and illegal business practices. (Hint: “Whistler” in the title refers to a whistleblower.)

FYI, there is a sequel to The Whistler entitled The Judge’s List, and there is also a short prequel titled “Witness to a Trial,” so perhaps we can consider Whistler the center of a mini-series.
