Bruce Peil

Bruce Peil

Bruce was born and raised in Oklahoma and now resides near Athens, Texas.  He is primarily known for his western landscape paintings.

Bruce says there are many artists who have influenced him and whose work he admires. “I discovered these great artists paintings at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City when I was first beginning to paint.”  But as much as he admired these great painters works, his goal has always been to let his own style evolve naturally and to make his own statement.  He strives to capture a moment in time and the feeling of the light without over-embellishment of color or too many unimportant details.

He has been invited to many invitational shows.  Most recently at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, the Philbrook, Settlers West Gallery, Vernon Filley, and Haley Memorial Library.  He has also had a number of one-man shows, appeared in several well-known art publications.  His art is widely collected.

He is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, Co-Founder/ Signature Member of the Outdoor Painters Society, and member of Oklahoma Society of Impressionists.

He and his wife operate an artist retreat near Athens, Texas where he paints and conducts classes and workshops.

Galleries Include: Bruce Peil Studio, American Legacy, Grapevine, Settlers West, Valerosa, and Collectors Covey.
