Walker and Tate Win Top Awards at Art Classic

The opening of the 32nd Annual Bosque Art Classic at the Bosque Arts Center in Clifton saw Herman Walker and Kathy Tate win top awards for excellence in representational art. The nationally renowned art show and sale, sponsored by the BAC Art Council, awards $15,500 in cash prizes to winners each year.
Walker took home the $5,000 John Steven Jones Purchase Award, sponsored by Roland & Joyce Jones, along with the $500 Silver Medal Oil/Acrylic Award, for Quittin’ Time. Tate won the $1,000 Art Patrons Purchase Award and $1,000 Gold Medal Oil/Acrylic Award for Faded Love. Both pieces will become part of the permanent collection at the BAC.
Kim Mackey garnered the $1,000 Boren-Selvidge Award for Viajero De Noche (Night Traveler). The award is sponsored by Mary Ellen Boren, Nancy Boren, and family in memory of the late James Boren, CA, and his brother-in-law James Selvidge.
Cowboy Artists of America member Teal Blake served as judge for the 2017 show. Blake juried in 170-plus pieces of art by over 100 artists from the nation in the media of oil/acrylic, drawing, pastel, water media, and sculpture.
The show and sale will remain on display free to the public through Saturday, September 23. Exhibit times are Monday– Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
