Natalie Bright - Elements of the Western Novel

New generations of fans are discovering the genre and Bright will explore its appeal, pointing out what is real about the cowboy culture and what’s embellished by Hollywood. The unique characters, self-reliance, vast landscapes, and good vs. evil themes all come together to make westerns so unforgettable. These elements can be applied to all genres of writing.

The second half of Bright’s presentation will include writing exercises on first lines, promotion tag lines, and characterization.

Bright and her husband own The Sanford Ranch, a 30,000-acre cow/calf operation located in the Texas Panhandle. A freelance writer, blogger, and a writing instructor, Bright currently serves on the Board of Directors of the 700-member Western Writers of America.
