Kathy Harr - Spieler Award

Kathy Harr was honored with the Joan Spieler Lifetime Achievement Award at the BAC Big Event on April 5. After a brief background by Bryan Davis on the award named after the BAC’s founder, Vickie Mitchell took the mike to honor her friend Kathy.

Kathy came to Bosque County with an abundance of energy, full of great ideas, outside the box thinking and a keen ability to see the big picture. But most of all the willingness to roll up her sleeves and get to work. And work is what she did and what she does. She lives the mission statement of this organization and has the gift of enthusiasm and energy that moves her friends and acquaintances to also get to work. 

Kathy has been a member of the BAC since 2008. Served on the BAC Board, is a member of the Culinary Club, an Art Patron, has assisted with Tablescapes, participated in several Variety Shows that helped fund student scholarships, the early days of quilt shows Arts of Christmas, and Big Event Committee.

She may be best known for her work with the Bosque Civic Music Association and then there is Bingo! In the early days she borrowed an old Bingo board from a neighboring town and until she raised the funds for our new state of the art Bingo board. Bingo attracts approximately 100 players at each event.  Many that had never been in this facility prior to this.

The BAC Gift Shop is another of Kathy’s efforts. She encouraged local artists and craftsman to display their goods. She does all of the purchasing and regular inventory rotation. Not to mention is a very good customer of the shop. Tonight we recognize Kathy for volunteerism at the Bosque Arts Center. But we want to share some of the things Kathy has done for the community. She initiated the Wreaths Across America Program, a tireless volunteer in her church family, docent at the Bosque Museum and last year was recognized by the Clifton Chamber of  Commerce with their Community Service Award for the many projects she has lent her time and talents to making our community even more special.
