The Portrait in French Gray
November 1-2, 2024
Friday-Saturday
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Workshop Fee: $250
You are invited to join Linda Lucas Hardy as she teaches a workshop using French Gray colored pencils on toned paper.
What are French Grays? A full set of Prismacolor’s come with three different grays. Unlike a Warm or Cool, the French Grays are a tiny bit on the brown side. When rendered on similar colored surface they complement each other beautifully to create something with a warm, rich tone.
In order for success to be more than a guessing game, prior to working on the portrait, each student will complete two small value scales. How skillfully the value structure of the scales is managed determines the outcome of the portrait. Because you will be working on a colored paper, which acts as a mid-tone, you are only going to need five pencils.
Regardless of how much experience you’ve had, or what mediums you’ve worked in Linda’s workshops are designed to guide students with concise and “easy to digest” lessons. Not only will this workshop be fun and casual, it promises to be information-packed with plenty of demonstrations and individual attention.
A twenty-four-year veteran of teaching and workshop instruction, Linda has taught workshops and classes in 15 states and 2 countries, to hundreds of students aged 8 to 88.
All materials, except for pencils and personal supplies (listed in supply list below), will be provided in an introductory packet. The packet will have everything needed for the workshop including paper with printed templates, instructions and photos.
All skill levels are welcome & drawing is not required.
