Books on the Bosque Writing Contest
POSTED: Monday, August 26, 2024
Entry Deadline: September 20, 2024
Deadline for entering Books on the Bosque’s 3rd Annual Writing Contest is Friday, September 20, at 5 p.m. This year’s competition features an added division for high school students (public, private, or home-school).
Work will be accepted in the categories of short story, narrative nonfiction essay, and poetry (rhymed/unrhymed). Cash prizes of $300, $200, & $100 will go to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each category of the open division.
High school prizes will be awarded across prose (short story and essay) and poetry categories: First place $275; second place $150, and third place $75.
Once again, Roland and Joyce Jones are sponsoring the $1,000 Jones Best of the West Award in the open division. The award will go to the most original work in any category that pays homage to the values of faith, hard work, and perseverance—the Spirit of the West—exemplified in the pioneer days through modern-day ranchers and farmers.
Altogether, prizes have been sponsored for a total of $4,000 across the two divisions. Our deep gratitude goes to our sponsors:
