BAC Quilt Show June 7-8

June means Quilt Show at the Bosque Arts Center.
On Friday- Saturday, June 7 - 8, the quilt show is held in all parts of the BAC, starting at 9 a.m. in the morning and continuing through 4 p.m. in the afternoon. Quilts are displayed in Frazier Performance Hall on the 3rd floor and in the 2nd floor galleries, while vendor booths are set up in the Tin Building Theatre. The cost of admission for this two day event is $6.00 per person per day.
Currently we have almost 90 quilts competing for the different categories and a total amount of $2,500 in prize money to be awarded. “This is the most quilts we’ve had in the 10 years the BAC has held this event,” states Cheryll Lundberg, one of the original quilt show organizers. The top money prizes are Best of Show at $500, Best Art Quilts at $500, SAR Award (special artist recognition) for $300 and People’s Choice at $300. Additional awards include the following: Nancy Pugh Memorial Award $150; Judges Choice $150; Best Hand Work $100; Best Hand Quilting $100; Best Domestic Machine Quilting $100; Best Long Arm Quilting Hand-guided $100; Best Long Arm Quilting Computerized $100 ; and finally the NACQJ Award of Merit $150.
A yearly feature of the quilt show is the presence of a scissor and knife sharpener located in the parking lot to handle all sharpening requirements. A concession lunch is available both days in the Atrium Café. The “Passport to Prizes” giveaway will occur daily with a different prize package awarded at the end of each day. A new contest begins again on Saturday. Fill your entry form with a stamp from vendors each day, then sign the entry form and pull it from the book to place in the drop box. A prize basket will be awarded both Friday and Saturday.
The drawing for the raffle quilt featured in the logo will be Saturday at 3:45 p.m. Tickets are one dollar each or 6 for $5.00.
On Thursday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m., we have a reception featuring the introduction of vendors and the presentation of our quilt award winners. BAC members and the public are invited to come enjoy wine, beer, and a selection of appetizers provided by the BAC Quilt Guild.
