Arts of Christmas - North Pole Country Store

POSTED: Monday, November 6, 2023

Start the month of December and the Holiday Season by attending the Bosque Arts Center’s Arts of Christmas open house and North Pole Country Store event Friday and Saturday, December 1 and 2. This year the BAC is pleased to host the featured Norwegian Country Christmas Tour Quilt Exhibit, “If Quilts Could Talk.”

This year the BAC as the featured Norwegian Country Christmas Tour Quilt Exhibit, is pleased to host, “If Quilts Could Talk.” This quilt display presents 30+ quilts made and passed down over 5 generations of the Orr family.  All quilts are hand quilted and have been preserved by Sue Goodman, Orr family member and curator of Education and Exhibits at the W.K. Gordon Museum.  Quilts will be displayed in the Atrium Gallery and Café as well as in the 2nd Floor Gallery, Student Art and Photography galleries.  The exhibit will be on display through the month of December.

Friday night kicks off after the downtown parade at 6:30 with the Gingerbread Construction Zone.  Select special gingerbread items for $15 available for decoration for both kids and adults.  Pick out your cookie kit or the tiny house kit which includes all your decorating items along with the expert advice of Kit and Tym Meyers, decorating advisors, from San Antonio.  Kit and Tym will be on site Friday evening 6:30 to 8:30 and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Grinch is back at the BAC for another pre-Christmas appearance, both Friday night 6:30 to 8:30 and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  This year’s Coloring contest entries, distributed at the elementary school will be accepted at this time and winners announced at a later date.  Come bring the kids or the grandkids and visit with the Grinch.  Take advantage of this time to make your very own photo opportunity.

It’s a return to the past with our North Pole Country Store. Our committee of creative members are busily creating decorated trees, sock snowmen, and candy delights for purchase during this event.  We’ll have four different types of fudge, covered pretzels, pralines, peanut brittle and other culinary delights for sale.  Quilt Guild and Pottery Guild members will be on hand selling their wares.  And don’t forget a quick trip through the Gift Shop for other holiday gift ideas.
Create a gingerbread decorating memory, listen to the music, visit the Grinch and tour the quilts while enjoying spiced cider and cookies Friday evening and Saturday. See you there!!!
