Texas Troubadour with Marty Haggard

POSTED: Monday, October 11, 2021

Plan to attend the Texas Troubadour Songwriters Classic in November. It is scheduled for November 6 with celebrity judge Marty Haggard. The entrants in the contest have provided us with a wonderful line of song selection. We have entries from Tennessee, Missouri, Massachusetts, Colorado and Texas and look forward to welcoming some of them to the BAC. The song topics range from lost love to new love and just about everything in between.

Our celebrity judge, Marty Haggard, hails from Bakersfield, CA and as a young person initially started his career as an actor in several TV shows before starting a solo career as a singer. He released several singles during the years of 1979 to 1981. He then joined his father's band and toured with his dad, Merle Haggard, for several years. In 1985 he released “Trains Make Me Lonesome,” which got him a nomination for Top New Male Vocalist from the Academy of Country Music and was later covered by George Strait in 1992. Marty’s interest began to turn toward Christian music and he released his first Christian album in 1996. Marty has released multiple albums since then of which two are tribute albums of his dad’s work.

Finalists competing for the Troubadour title this year will be Blake Dagley of Midlothian, Sadie Self of Ovalo, Zac Clifton of Wharton, Bill Sibley of Cleburne, Amy Taylor of Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

Tickets are on sale now.
