Loren Entz
Montana artist Loren Entz has been a member of the Cowboy Artists of America (CAA) since 1992. During his 26 years in the organization, Loren has won his share of medals and the appreciation of collectors. From the CAA shows alone, he won six silver and four gold medals. At the 2011 CAA show, Loren received the Stetson Award for the best overall exhibition, a gold medal in oil painting, and the Ray Swanson Memorial Award. His work has been featured in several magazines, including Western Horseman and Art of the West. Additionally, he was honored to be guest artist and speaker at the 2006 C.M. Russell Auction of Original Western Art in Great Falls, MT. He is a versatile artist, skilled with charcoal, pencil, pastel, oil, watercolor, and sculpture.
Loren grew up in Kansas. Upon leaving his childhood home, he worked as a Montana ranch hand where he came into contact with other Western artists. He started working as a full-time artist in 1981. He has a passion for teaching young artists and anyone wanting to learn. His favorite instructional activity is teaching artists how to paint a horse from the inside out.
Loren attended Hesston College, Longview College, and Montana State University. His art is represented by The Legacy Gallery in Bozeman, MT. His works are included in the permanent collections at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, WY, and the Montana State Historical Society in Helena, MT and in many private collections. He lives in Brownsville, Nebraska.
