Eddy Raven & Texas Troubadour

POSTED: Friday, September 1, 2017

Eddy Raven headlines the 5th Annual Texas Troubadour Songwriter Classic.  An award-winning singer/songwriter, Raven has penned numerous chart-toppers and classics, including “Shine, Shine, Shine” and “Who Do You Know in California?”

Judging and performing with Raven will be Grammy-winning singer/songwriter/producer Frank Myers.   As a songwriting team, Raven and Myers have written and recorded such country hits as “I Got Mexico,” “Bayou Boys,” “You Should’ve Been Gone By Now,” and “Sometimes A Lady.”  Each also has written blockbuster hits recorded by other artists. Raven’s song “Thank God for Kids” became a huge hit for the Oak Ridge Boys in the ‘80s; Myers wrote the mega-hit “You and I” recorded by Eddie Rabbit and Crystal Gayle and co-wrote “I Swear,” a number one country song for John Michael Montgomery and number one pop song for All-4-One.   Some of the major artists who have recorded songs written by Myers include Eddie Rabbitt and Crystal Gayle, Alabama, Lonestar, All For One, and Kenny Loggins

“The next great songwriter will come from somewhere in the small towns and cities of America, not Nashville,” Raven said of being asked to judge this year's contest.  “They usually move to Nashville after they start to have success and have learned their craft at home.  I am looking forward to hearing some of the new undiscovered talent that is waiting for a shot at being successful!”.

The top ten singer/songwriters in the Troubadour contest will compete for titles of Texas Troubadour (a $1500 award) and People's Choice (a $500 award).  The Bosque Arts Center congratulates its 10 finalists:  Gary Anderson of Walnut Springs, Brian Barrett of Meridian, Michelle Canning of North Andover (MA),  Adam Hull of Mineral Wells, Ericka Knudson of Meridian, Prag Padilla of Prosper, Stephanie Ryman of Dallas, Bill Sibley of Cleburne, Richard Paul Thomas of Salado, and Phillip Wildman of Dorchester.
