Entries Now Open!
Eddy Raven will judge the 5th Annual Texas Troubadour Songwriter Classic. The singer/songwriter who penned the #1 “Thank God for Kids” for the Oak Ridge Boys, as well as numerous hits of his own (including “Bayou Boys,” “I Got Mexico,” and “Shine, Shine, Shine”) will judge entries for the 2017 contest for country music songwriters, as well as perform at the live event in October.
Judging and performing with Raven will be noted singer/songwriter/producer Frank Myers, writer of such blockbuster crossover hits as “I Swear” (co-written with Gary Baker) and “You and I.” The Grammy Award-winner served as Raven’s band leader, guitar player, and road manager for nine years, during which he collaborated with Raven on the hits, “I Got Mexico,” “Bayou Boys,” “You Should’ve Been Gone By Now,” and “Sometimes A Lady,” among others. Some of the artists who have recorded Myers’s songs include Eddie Rabbitt and Crystal Gayle, Alabama, Lonestar, All-4-One, and Kenny Loggins.
Digital song submissions will be accepted through August 7, 2017; the final portion of the contest for the top ten singer/songwriter finalists to perform before the judges and the live audience will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2017. Songwriters may mail songs in on CD or upload them to the website. Entries will close at 11:59 p.m. Central Daylight Savings Time.
